Lovely Tag using 'Needles and Threads' by Kaisercraft

There's just something very comforting about the 'Needle and Threads' collection by Kaisercraft, the colours are very soothing and the patterns utterly charming, as a lover of sewing from a young age, I've really enjoyed using these papers which were from the 'Mad About Scrappin' Flog it Friday on their
  Facebook Page.

Making a simple tag of my required size I used a combination of the 'Backstitch' and 'Bobbin' papers to cover the base, rolling opposite corners for some interest, I used a dressform which I covered in the 'Pattern' paper  which I also inked the edges of with 'coffee'. To make the dress, I took a strip of the 'Seam' patterend paper, punched a pattern along one edge and then scored and folded it every 1/4" (concertina style) I glued it to the dressform, added a little lace and some beading for a belt.

Seam binding for hanging and a bow at the base, various laces from 'Mad About Scrappin' together with a sticker from my stash the overall tag is complete!! I really love the finished look.

April FaceBook Challenge - Lou

Hello All

Louise, here again to share with you a quick project I made up with this months Mad About Scrappin's FaceBook challenge which was to use this quote

"Good Friends are like stars.
You don't always see them,
but you know that they
are always there"

On a page, card or OTP item.

The first thing that popped into my mind with this quote was to make a card for one of my dear friends and this is what I made.  I love bold colour, so these papers from Glitz, were perfect for this card.

I started by using a chipboard Star (how appropriate) and traced around it for my background paper then, I covered the chipboard with another paper out of the 'Color Me Happy' range from Glitz. I also used this same wood grain paper as one of my layers and then added the heart paper on top.

I used a gorgeous star themed doiley with a circle punched out of the 'toilet people' that what I call the icons LOL.  Then I added a fussy cut globe with a rhinestone to finish off the front with the words 'Good Friends'

In the centre of the card I used a strip of Washi tape down the side, these tapes is available this Friday the 19th of April on Mad About Scrappin's FaceBook 'Flog it Friday'

Here is close up of my handwriting, not perfect but remember you can not make memories personal with the computer, a little bit of your own handwriting makes all the difference.

Make sure you put this on your list of challenges for the weekend, as entries are due by the 25th April.

Ta for now

Altered Matchboxes using Kaisercraft's 'Needle and Thread' Collection

The adorable papers from Kaisercraft's 'Needle and Thread' Collection can be used for so many Off the Page projects and this week I decided to alter some little matchboxes for a Swap I'm in.

This is a very easy project, just cut your paper to the size of the outside of the box and glue on. I whitewashed the inside and placed a little lace and that's it.  With a bead or button placed on the front like a little drawer handle all that's left to do is decorate the top.

There are so many wonderful flowers available from Mad About Scrappin that the job was almost done for me, just a little arranging, a sweet little bow made from seam binding and they are done.  I even used a resin piece on one to act as a little base for a nest. You don't need a lot of embellishments because the boxes are so tiny.

I hope that you give this idea a try, maybe even make a few for cute little gift ideas.
Thanks for stopping by today

Quote fun for Mad About Scrappin

Hello everyone.

Wow.. April already.. where is this year going...

Once again Leanne at Mad About Scrappin has come up with a fun filled challenge for this month

Must say when I first saw this challenge I felt it was such a fun one to play around with. Such a great way to showcase someone that you want to celebrate having in your life.
I love using quotes for my journal as I find it often saves me from having to find the perfect words to say what I want to on my layouts.

So with the quote in mind I got creative with a photo of a very special person in my life.

I also played around with the quote a little too and used part of the quote as the main part of my title for the page. I also used stars on my layout for embellishments made from recycled card, permanent marker and texture paste. Super simple and easy.

Oh.. and who says you can use pink on a masculine layout!

Why not mix it up a little and play around with this months quote challenge from Mad About Scrappin.

April Challenge

Hey scrappers!

It's my turn to share my take on the April challenge.

Here's the details again

Here's my layout

I gotta say when I first seen this quote I knew I had scrap a pic of me and my bestie.  After being together for over 20 years, they have left earlier in the year to work in the UK for 3 or 4 years and I feel like my left arm is missing!  This quote was so appropriate!  I think this quote would also be great as a sentiment for a card too.  Think I might have to have a go at that as well!

I have used a paper pack from Carta Bella called Traditions from the Mad About Scrappin store.  These kits are fantastic value as they have lots of stickers in as well as a great range of double sided paper so you really need very little else to add to your layout.

Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share

Hugs

And The Hop Begina....

Welcome to the FIRST EVER Blog Hop with Mad About Scrappin!!
We are all excited to share this with you all.
We hope you enjoy the Mad about Scrappin Blog Hop.

All the Creative Team's Blogs are linked together so you will be able to see ALL the FANTASTIC projects we have for you.

It's Michelle here to start you off on the hop here on the Mad About Scrappin Blog.

On behalf of everyone at Mad About Scrappin I would like to welcome you.

Now.. as some of you may know I create the page kits for you at Mad About Scrappin. Last month I created this fun filled kit using travel papers but with a twist.

This kit is so jam packed full of lots of goodies from Mad About Scrappin that I still have a few odds and ends to play with after having created the three layouts I designed for you.

So with that in mind I have pulled out the left overs from the kit to create this layout.

I had lots of fun creating this layout. Making lots of mess and getting covered in ink.

With a few odds and ends added from my own stash to create a few simple embellishments using some garden twine and old buttons this layout was created rather quickly.

Now to say I am thrifty when it comes to my layouts that would be an understatement. I wanted to add that little extra to this layout so I used some recycled card to create some cogs. With a spritz of a few different colours of glimmer mist they really took on a really grungy look that has added a bit of sparkle to the layout without looking too girly.

Well.. I hope what I have been able to share with you to start off the blog hop.

I can guarantee you that the creative team have some amazing things to share with you on this hop.

Beautiful Butterflies

I joined an Altered Spoon Swap in March and the guidelines were to alter a spoon, use some ephemera and try to stay in the colours of cream or yellow using either bright or pastels.
I have previously only ever altered one spoon and it broke while I was playing with it so I turned it into a charm of sorts, so because I liked the look of this I decided to break some more spoons!!!!
Here's the spoon I altered, I snapped an old Souvenir spoon from the Op/Thrift store, bent each end of the handle to form loops and then I cut out and attached a butterfly from the Kaisercraft 'Timeless' collection papers which were from Mad Acout Scrappin and used this as my ephemera (they are slightly off white/cream), I then gathered a little tulle underneath the butterfly like a second set of wings and attached to the spoon, once this was complete I glued a button onto the end of the spoon after removing the original emblem. I then attached a looped chain to the spoon loop and another chin to also attach to the handle loop using jump rings so that it would hang below :)

I'm very pleased with my spoon and just love the butterflies in the paper collection.
Thank you for taking a look :)
