Simple Cards for Non-Cardmakers

I've never really considered myself a 'card maker', I feel there are many many talented ladies out there that can easily claim that title! That being said, I still like to put the odd card together as long as it's simple and easy and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who might feel this way :)

I recently attended a family wedding so I had a great reason to play around with one of my favourite Kaisercraft paper lines 'On This Day'. Selecting an appropriate verse from  both the 'I Do' and 'Proposal' sheets, I cut them out and distressed the edges. I backed them both with a lovely robin's egg blue paper (also distressing the edges) and mounted them on some craft cards.

Because the verses are very pretty in themselves I didn't want to over embellish the cards. Using some lovely little flowers picked up from a previous 'Flog it Friday' event together with some dainty laces which are perfect for cards and tags, I made little clusters and added some pearl beaded trim

On the horizontal card I stuck on some bling flourish and on the vertical card I added a little vintage gold stickles to the border of the verse. Both cards have a little pretty glitter sprinkled on the flowers.

I hope you like these very simple cards and if you, like myself are not confident in card making perhaps you might give  them a try :)

Thank you so much for stopping by today xxx

Echo Park's Paper and Glue range

Photobucket
Hello, Belinda here today to show you 2 layouts using the very awesome Paper and Glue range from Echo Park. And before you run away thinking that you can ONLY do school layouts I have one that is a school layout and one that is not.
First up the school layout:

Looking back I wish that I had gone with my idea of paint drips on the background paper. But I still love it (the artist in me is never happy lol) I did doodled around the edge of the red and yellow paper, added extra details, who Sophie's teacher was, fav subject, best friends and so on.

I have used heaps of the stickers from this range and layered them under the photo. I used all stickers that went well with what my daughter did/use in Pre Primary. The flowers are all from MAS. With the big yellow one it was white but I sprayed it yellow.

I just had to use the worm, he is soooo cute!!! And that sequin lace was a must on this layout (to see all the different colours head HERE)

The title I used the alphas from the range. I also used Memory Maze chipboard, left over from my last layout post, talk about awesome value!!!! I have used some on my next layout and I still have loads left. ( Head HERE for the awesome range)
Ok now for the non school layout:

I choose a very non school photo to show that this range you can use any photo. And with 3 girls you can use it on girl layouts.

Again I doodled around the edges with extra information.

I have used a stamp from my stash for under this cluster and the photo. With my die cutting machine and die I made this Rosette from on of the papers in this range. I added sticker strips that was left over from the ones I used under the photo.

The title is a sticker from the range. The flowers are all from here. The green was white but I sprayed it green.
And here is the Memory Maze chipboard.
I have loads left over so watch this space for cards and maybe more layouts. I have loved working with this range (but I do love all Echo Park). There is not much left but you can still get the complete range HERE
Thanks for looking

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 20

Welcome back to another week of fun on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

Okay.. so I know that today I am suppose to be sharing with you a new layout I have created as the title of the post suggests.

However just to throw you a curve ball I thought I would mix it up this week as I had a few cards to make for birthdays AND wanted to show you how I have used up the last of the scraps of the Echo Park Co. Paper range I have been using this past month.

So... with that in mind.. here is three very different cards I have created using up the last of the paper range A Perfect Summer range.

Here I have created a card for my son's 10th birthday on the 24th October. Have thrown in a few scraps of old packs like the hessian and a handcrafted polymer button.

Next I created a card for my niece's 14th birthday on the 28th October. Another polymer button used for centre of the hand cut flower and some stitching with a journal marker to finish it off.

Lastly was a card created for my daughter's 16th birthday on the 27th October. I have hand stamped randomly the base card and the scraps of paper too to grunge it up a little. A little bit of weaving of the paper scraps. Then throw some flowers in the mix to add that little bit of a feminine touch.

Super quick cards using up the scraps I just couldn't part with.

Well.. off to prepare for all the parties now.

Till next week.

Cuddles with Grumps

Photobucket

Belinda back again to show you a layout I did using this months Creative Sketch:

I just love this photo of my Father and my youngest 2 girls. I have used Fancy Pants Memories Captured range that I brought from MAS in one of their sales. All the flowers are also from MAS.

The pink flower was in the last Flog It Friday. I just love the bling in the middle!!!

I used a dinner plate to use as a stencil for my circle. I cut it out, distressed and doodled around it. I did the same for the yellow paper. I used a Gelato for the white line on the black cardstock. I will NEED to buy a white pen now, just love the look of it.

I am sorry for the blurred photos but this was the best I could get as my camera died as I was taking them.

Here is the sketch:

This really was a fab quick and easy sketch, one that I will be doing again.

3 different cards

Photobucket

Hi Belinda here today to show you 3 cards I made with my leftover paper from Teresa Collins Family Stories range.

First up is a birthday card:

I have used 2 of the pattern paper, cut 2 die cuts from the sheet in the range, a flair from Fancy Pants and a flower, lace and butterfly. All products came from MAS.

Next is a wedding card. Again I laid 2 pattern paper, cut some of the die cuts from the sheet in the range. Add a heart and twine (again all from the shop) with some alphas and you have a quick easy wedding card.

Last is a Sweet 16th birthday card. Like the others I have used 2 pattern paper, die cuts and added lace, twine and flowers (all from the shop) and another quick easy card finished and all using the leftovers from the Family Stories range. I also have enough leftovers still to do a few more cards. So in total I have created 2 layouts and 3 cards with still more leftovers. And I have only added a few things outside the range. Talk about value for money!!!

I hope this inspires you to use up all those leftovers

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 19

Hello again and welcome to another week of me sharing with you a fun filled layout on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

Sadly this is the end of this yummy paper range. I have only very little dribbles left to make a card next week for my son's birthday. I must admit I will be sad to see it all finished as it was so much fun to play with. Echo Park Paper Co. certainly made such fun paper to play with. Definitely will be chasing up more of their paper ranges soon!

So here's the last layout I have created using the Perfect Summer paper range by Echo Park Paper Co.
Once again I have background stamped the base card stock as it was just too stark. I have played around with the patterns big time this week too. I am not normally one to use lots of different patterns in the same layout but these all just work so well together.

Just for something different too I have actually worked with a series of photos of my youngest daughter. I don't normally work with more than  photo. I can be pushed to use tow but any more and I seem to struggle to be able to tell the story. However I really loved this series of beach photos of her. plus by cropping them to 2.5" made them a lot easier to be able to work with.

Once again I have used the coordinating sticker sheet for my embellishments. I have mounted them using some 3D foam squares I  felt they look too flat adhered straight onto the page. I love lots of dimension on my page.

I have then finished the page off with some twine which for a bit of fun I have added some of the coordinated bunting stickers to tie it all in with the kite sticker I had used above. I think it helps create the fun feel of the layout.

So.. that's it for this week.

Don't forget about the Flog It Friday Sale that is happening tonight at Mad About Scrappin.

So many bargains to grab that you will be itching to get crafty.

Till next week.

Glitz Design's Dapper Dan

Hello again!

This month I was very lucky to get to play with Glitz's Dapper Dan range - aren't they on fire with their latest releases!!

I don't often use the shades of blue and green in this range, as I normally scrap little girls, yet this range proved very versatile and I was able to pull together 3 very different pages.

For my first layout I got my mixed media groove on and really made a mess. I had a great time layering the papers and using all the awesome stickers on the titles and accents sheet.

(Btw - this is the first of our wedding photos that I've ever scrapped! We've been married 7 years! Oops!)

In the next layout I put together, I really let the papers do the talking, and pulled together this page about our latest adventures very quickly. I love how the tan/timber look papers work with a little gold pop.

My final page was a bit of fun using some old Jillibean soup Polaroid frames and the scraps and stickers I had left over from the Dapper Dan range.

Nearly all the papers and products in my layouts are from the Dapper Dan range. If you get in quick there is some still available in the MAS shop at a super cheap price!

And don't forget Flog it Friday is on this week! So make sure you stop in and grab lots of goodies at bargain prices. This month, everyone that orders gets a little thank you gift too!!

Thanks for stopping :)

Big loves,
Tam x

Picnic Time!!

It's Spring time in Australia right now, the weather is warming up and everyone is enjoying the outdoors once again, and in the Northern hemisphere it's Autumn and the weather is cooling down but still not too cool to enjoy the outdoors!

So what better way to enjoy the outdoors than with a picnic!!! Well that would be lovely but unfortunately the little picnic basket I have to show you today wouldn't hold very many goodies of the food variety :)

******

I was recently inspired by a photo on pinterest of a little cardstock/paper picnic basket so I set about creating my own using the picture as a guide.

I used two sheets of the Kaisercraft 'Marigold' Collection papers to make the basket base, lid and handle. I basically just looked at the photo (linked below) and folded the papers to replicate the original design, changing it up just a little. Scraps were used to form the handle. All the edges were inked to soften the look of the paper.

Decorating the basket was the fun part, firstly I pleated a piece of Burlap/Hessian trim across the top and then using a beautiful variety of Mad About Scrappin flowers and blooms I made a little posy, being sure to curl a few stems to add interest. A strip of lace ribbon along the handle and a gorgeous large daisy on either end gave it a very 'happy' look. Some dainty cream lace rimming the lid was a final touch.

A couple of sweet Chevron bags with a simple flower and you have the perfect little picnic basket to fill with goodies for a special friend.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed this little project :)

Nb:  Because the is not my original idea and I was inspired from a photo I felt it would be wrong to give exact instructions. I will however, give a link to the original photo so you can take a look yourself  :)

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 18

Hello everyone.

Hard to believe that I have been sharing with a you all a layout of the week on behalf of
Mad About Scrappin for 18 weeks now!

Where have all those weeks gone??

Time just seems to be whizzing by this year.

Before I know it Christmas will be here!

Anyway.. this week I have to admit to being time poor for scrap time. Being school holidays here at the moment, having had a week off for a family holiday at home and being knee deep in paperwork this week I really have left this weeks layout till the VERY last minute.
I know.. I know... not like me at all.

It is not that I haven't wanted to scrap.. but the my paperwork fairy is non existent this week,
so I have been left to the task myself. Plus the amount of paperwork I have been needing to type up for filing is HUGE!!! so far stands at over 50 pages!!!!

So with all that in mind today after lunch I took a quick..or should I say VERY QUICK break to scrap this layout for you using the yummy Echo Park Co. paper range - A Perfect Summer.

So here's this weeks quick layout.

I just cant seem to get enough of this paper range. I must say I am starting to run down to the last scraps at the moment though. I have JUST enough for one more layout and will be sad to see it all gone.

This week I found that the plain white card stock base just wasn't doing it for me with this layout. It looked too stark. So I set to work making a major mess of my hands with some staz on and a Kaisercraft background stamp. I think it has helped the colours of this paper to really pop.

Once again this week I have added a bit of washi tape to the layout. I love the look and feel of washi tape. I also love how quickly it can add to a layout with very little effort.

Rather than just have a title on the page I decided to use some of the word stickers from the matching Echo Park Co. Sticker sheet along with some Kaisercraft mini stickers to journal on the page. I mounted them stickers to some scrap white card stock and then mounted them onto the page using 3D foam squares. Adds a bit of dimension and creates a bit of interest I think.

I then finished it all off with a bit of bakers twine and some bright button. Super quick I must say.

Sometimes it is just a fun when you are time poor to just create a really quick layout.

Took me about 30 minutes to complete and I must say I am quite happy with this bright and bubbly layout. I'm happy I got a chance to play in this super busy week.

Better get back to the paperwork pile before it eats me alive!

Till next week.
