Creative Inspiration - Week 5

Hello again.

Back this week to share with you a layout I have created on behalf of Mad About Scrapping.

Still am using bits and pieces from this kit.
Must say it always amazes me the different looks you get from the same paper range.

So there the layout I have created this week.
I have been having a MAJOR clean out of my scrap area again. I mean I just have so much stuff that I just haven't used. I have a rule here too that if I haven't used it during the year just gone then it goes.
So during this clean up and reorganise I have found so much stuff that I have wanted to use and just haven't. I also found a pile of rub ons that I had forgotten I had. I must admit too that some of the rub ons I have found have certainly reached their used by dates. They just don't seem to adhere very well.
So I decided to use one of those sets on my background.
I distressed the edge of the card stock with ink to start with. I then stamped the edges with a script stamp using my hand as a stamp block. I then used some ink and a stencil to create the brick effect randomly. Lastly I used those rub ons that were a little bit past their used by date. I liked these black and white alphas as the white ties in the white from the embellishments.
I found these kraft paper doilies at the cheap shop the other day. I really wanted to play with them so added them into this layout for a bit of texture. I love this kit too as it has some great stickers in the pack. Have used a few of them as my embellishments on this layout.

So.. do you have things laying around that you haven't used for a while ?

Do you clean out your scrap area on a regular basis to freshen things up ?

Back to scrapping for me.

Till next week.

Introducing Design Team Member Amy

Morning Everyone

I am so excited to announce 1 of our new Design Team Members - Amy Prior

Over the next 6 months Amy will be inspiring you with all her amazing creations!!!

Here is a little bit about Amy

Hi there! I am so excited to be here as part of the Mad About Scrappin Team! My name is Amy Prior and I am a wife and a mum in my late twenties living in Kincumber, Australia. I have lived on the Central Coast here in NSW Australia basically my whole life and could not imagine living anywhere else. I have always been a creative soul and I find it hard to live without my paintbrush in hand or covered in some kind of medium. My 2 daughters Mia & Chloe are usually the focus of my creations because I just love to scrapbook and preserve precious moments for them. My dear mother has a box full of lost memories I call them. My entire collection of childhood photos, is stored inside a shoe box randomly mixed up and if I ever ask my mum when a photo was taken or what occassion has been captured, she is always blank. No record and her memory failing, I was always destined to scrapbook and I started journalling at a very young age, including photos, magazine cuttings etc.

By the time my first daughter came along, I was introduced to this fabulous world of "Scrapbooking". I was in heaven at that very first Creative Memories party but the instant I walked into a regular Scrapbooking Store, I saw a world of possibilities and a world of pretty things that I simply had to reach out and grab. Now I, of course, have the same problem that most scrappers have, and that is that I have way too many supplies to know what's good for me! But then every CHA that comes around, my wish lists grow as my bank account shrinks.

As a young girl, my dream was always to be a teacher. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I left school very young and went down the wrong paths for a very long time. Although my dream to be a teacher can still be a reality, I love to focus on sharing my passion for creativity with others. I cannot begin to describe the joy it brings me when I have helped someone create a work of art, after they have doubted themselves and especially after they say they do not have creative bones in their bodies etc.

I hope to share my love for this beautiful Mixed Media world that I live in, with all of you. If I ever post something that has not been explained properly, PLEASE comment and ask me questions. I am always happy to answer and add more steps to make your creative journey easier.

A Couple of Cards

Hey there everyone, I hope all my Aussie readers are enjoying the Australia Day long weekend.   I am back again today to share a couple of cards I created for Mad About Scrappin.  You may remember the sketch I used a few posts back for the January Sketch Challenge....
It was this one....
Well I thought that I could use it as a map or sketch for some cards.  I went really well with the first card...stuck to the layout as much as possible.  I only flipped it 90 degrees or so!!

But....... I totally lost the plot when I got to my second card :)  It seemed to have a mind all of it's own!!

I have used some scraps leftover from my Mad About Scrappin November design team kit.  These papers are from My Minds Eye - The Sweetest Thing collection. In the first card  I have used some chipboard flowers, white lace and ribbon. For the second card I have used one of my Tattered Crocheted blooms and a pink doily.
I would just like to remind you all to head  over to the Mad About Scrappin Blog on the 1st of February as we launch the new Blog Challenges.

There are some gorgeous prize packs being offered for the New Blog Sketch Challenge and I wanted to share them with you all!!  There will be 2 prizes. One will be voted on by the Creative Team and there will be one random draw winner.  So please be sure to hop on over and check them out!!  Remember readers you've got to be in it to win it!!

Mini Album Part 1

Hi Belinda here today to show you pt 1 of my mini album. And its all about my middle daughter. The photos are highlights of her life but also are ones that I had not scrapped before. So there is no birthday photos as I have already scrapped them (loads of times lol ). I also have used photos that might not be a great photo but still hold special memories.
The whole album I have used Kaisercraft 'The Looking Glass' collection. Check it out here, it was an awesome range to work with.
First up is the first photo of my 2 girls and me when Iona was 2 days old. I have journaled around the edge of the paper and used heaps of MAS flowers

2nd page and its Iona's first time in the cot. More MAS flowers (head HERE for their awesome range)

Next 2 pages is about Iona's 1st Christmas. Along with the paper I have used hessian behind each photo. I have also stamped on the Kaisercraft paper with a stamp that has the word' believe' on it

Again loads of MAS flowers and journalling around the edges.

The last 2 I am showing you today is 2 different events but happened within a few weeks of each other. This one was the day my girl went from a cot to her big bed. I have used loads of Washi Tape and flowers from MAS and the banners are from the 'Looking Glass' sticker sheet.

This one is about the day my oldest girl but pegs in their hair. MAS has a fab range of Washi Tape and you can see it HERE.
Well thats it from me today. But if you want to keep up with all the latest news/products head to either the facebook page HERE or their blog, HERE. Challenges start up next month with it going through the blog this time. Head HERE for the sneak peeks at the prize packs.
Thanks for looking

Creative Inspiration - Week 4

Hello everyone.

Last weekend of the school holidays here in Adelaide, South Australia. We have been busy here getting things ready for school. Very big year for our household too with Miss T starting school this year. Going to be strange without her little chattering while we scrap and craft together during the day when the others are at school.

Anyway.. because we have been busy getting things ready for school haven't had much time for scrapping. Have managed to get a few cards done instead to add to my stash.
Have continued with the 4 x 4 size as find them so quick to do and am able to use up those smaller pieces of paper scraps.
My first card was kept simple with a bit of ink, washi tape and some simple embellishments. Super quick and unisex too. Like adding a bit of dimension to the card with the hessian and then 3D mounted the matching tag I put my greeting on.

Second card I made was actually made for a little friend of Miss T. He had his birthday party last week and Miss T wanted me to make him a card. She picked the paper and the digi image for me to use. Added some number stamping to the background to tie it all in a little. The monkey is also mounted using 3D foam so he sits off the card nicely.

MAS Products Used =
Fabric Flower
Hessian Ribbon
Washi Tape
WOW people
Black and White Twine
Cream and Black Card stock

From my Stash =
Chipboard Number
Kaiser Mini Alphas
Hand Coloured Digi Image (Monkey)
Embroidery Floss
3D Foam Dots

Well off to make sure all the school things are sorted.

Enjoy your weekend.

Fun In The Sun

Hi Belinda here today to show you my take on the January Sketch by Anne Patterson. Since its the middle of summer I could not but do a layout about the beach.

I did change a few things from the sketch but that's the best thing about sketches, they are a starting point. I also added lots of journaling around the edges of the paper.

I used the awesome Teresa Collins 'Memories' range. The title is stamped as some shells (trying to get more out of stamps, I will have a post on cards that I used stamps on coming up). I also used shells that was picked up from the beach that day.

This was not part of the sketch wanted to show some more beachy things.

And here is the sketch. I just love how this can be interpreted in sooo many different ways.
As of next month the sketches go back to being a challenge for everyone to enter. There will be a linky thing on this blog to link up the challenges. There will be 2 awesome prizes up for grabs, gotta love that!!!
Thanks for looking
Belinda :)

Shabby Chic Wall Hanging

Hello again readers, today I am back with a product share for Mad About Scrappin.  I have created a shabby chic wall hanging from these three mini canvas boards.
Sorry guys I don't really have any process photos.  I have used more of the Kaisercraft 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad On This Day. These papers are so soft and subtle I have loved working with them.  Please be sure to check out the Mad About Scrappin shop to see the current range of Kaisercraft in stock.  I have covered each of my little boards with co-ordinating papers. Each little board measures 4x4.  So the hanger is quite small - but long!!

I have used paper roses and forget me knots to decorate the "top" corner.  It is layered on some white lace and a piece of applique from my stash.  I have added some bling and pearl trim.  The rub on is an oldie from Kaisercraft.
In the second panel I have matted a photo and added more of the same bling. I used more of the Kaisercraft rub-ons and a cutout that you find in the back of the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pads. I finished of the bottom with more of the white lace;  pearl trim and a seam binding bow.
My last panel has another saying rub on from Kaisercraft; pearl trim; white lace; seam binding bow; paper roses and forget me knots and another piece of applique.
I have strung or hung all my panels onto some white seam binding and added bow to the top.
It is a little hard to photograph... but I have some more close ups for you ...

Please be sure to check out the Mad About Scrappin Shop and come join us for Flog it Friday on Facebook...just like the page to be apart of all the fun.  Oh and don't forget to follow the blog!!
Till next time remember to .....
