Monthly Challenge - Because I'm Happy

Good morning everyone, I am back with a second  take on the Mad About Scrappin Monthly challenge.  This month our challenge is ....

Would love to see your take on this.

Anyways without any further ado here is my second layout.  This time I have chosen a more recent song title.... Because I'm Happy - by Pharrell Williams. Lately I have been experimenting with more mixed media techniques and adding stamping to my backgrounds and also adding random embellishments from mixed collections.  In this layout I have used various tags, journalling spots and embellishments from my stash.  I love how this style of scrapbooking is fantastic for using up your stash!!!
I have used a mix of papers from some of my past Creative team kits.  The base page is one from the Pink Paislee Collection Cottage Farms Collection.  I have added some stamping and using Lindy's stamp gang sprays I have splattered the background.  I also added some texture paste which I sprayed and then quickly wiped off so that there were some white patches.
To create my title I have used various alphabet stickers from my stash and my strips are just leftovers from The Sweetest Thing collection by My Minds Eye.  The embellishments are just random bits n pieces from my stash and leftovers from various creative team kits.  I have hidden some journalling away in one of the little bags that were in this months kit....I just love these bags!!! I think I have just about covered everything....here are some more pics on all the details and embellishments I used.  You can even see a little bit of the crackle stamp I used!!

Well guys that is yet another quick post it from me for this week,.  I do hope you have enjoyed my second take on this month's challenge and I look forward to seeing what you all create for this.  Remember it doesn't have to be a layout...it could be a card, a tag or maybe an off the page project!!

See you all next week.

October Already !!!!

Hello all.

I am back this week to share with you a challenge I have played with one behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

I loved this challenge because there are so many possibilities to scrap this so many different ways.

Once again I have used up some of this kit to create my layout.

So here's what I have come up with...
I have used the song "Play On" by Carrie Underwood. I thought that the song title was perfect for some recent photos I had taken of my son during this seasons soccer. This year the team got new jerseys and they were allocated their own number so I wanted to record that. Plus the fact that he was super excited on presentation day when he got his second trophy.

I have kept this layout quite bright and playful too using the bold green and white striped paper as the background. Then jazzed the edges with some gold starred washi tape.

Now I must say I love the stickers that match this set too. The have been very well used this time around as I have found them to be very versatile.

I have to admit to being a little unsure as to how to use the wire in the kit when Leanne sent it too me. However when I started on this layout I wanted something to pop on to accentuate the circles on the page and the wire worked perfectly. I messed it up a little and then adhered a wood veneer star on one. I found it has added that little bit of bling without taking over.

I then finished off the layout with some more gold washi tape in a different pattern. Then added my title in some large black chipboard to make them pop out from the page.

Are you going to play along with this month's challenge at Mad About Scrappin ?

Looking forward to seeing what everyone creates.

TFL, Michelle x

Double Layout

Wow guys it has really been a month of firsts for me.  I have found this months challenge really really inspirational - just in case you haven't noticed ;).  This month our challenge was to scrap a card, tag, layout or off the page project with this saying....
and I thought I would finish the monthly challenge up with a double page layout.  Yep, you guessed it,  my first ever!!!

Well guys there's not much to tell about this one.  It has turned out really "traditional" in it's style.  I have used some papers that have been in my stash since 2009.  They are from a company called Unique Boutique and I am not sure they even exist anymore.  I do love the blue and brown tones. The photo above shows my layout before I added my pics.  I have used flowers from Mad About Scrappin.  The lace trim came in my design team kit.  I have added some bling and seam binding from my stash.  I have used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the sentiment.

Here are some close ups and I have now added some random family shots.

Well guys that is it from me today.  Have you all had a go at the Monthly Challenge yet? I hope you have .... don't forget to link your projects to be in the running for the prize.   Next week I have a little upcycled project to share with you all.  Please stop by and check it out...and stop by the links below to catch up with what my creative team mates have been up to.

Altered Collage Frame

Hey all I am here to day to share with you all my first time scrapping with one of these collage frames.
I picked up two of these  recently and thought that this would be a perfect project for this month's challenge.  I have used the gorgeous Madame Payraud collection from Papermania.  OMG guys these papers are to die for!!! I have loved working with them and I am really hoping to get a few more projects out of what I have left over.

I gave my collage frame a base coat of white gesso and then a couple of top coats with Antique White Acrylic paint.  Once the paint had dried I went around the edges of the frame with some Tim Holtz Walnut Stain to add that vintage touch.  I grabbed an emery board and in places I sanded the frame back to the bare wood to try and get a bit of an aged effect.

I have matted the frame with Kaisercraft Coffee Bean it was the perfect shade of brown for this project.  I then added a sheet from the Madame Payraud collection and filled the frames with sepia prints of my family.  I double matted all my little prints on some more of the Kaisercraft Coffee Bean and also a layer of the Bazil Vanilla.

Once I had all my photos sorted and in their frames, I began adding the embellishments and the monthly challenge quote.

I have gone with my usual flower cluster in the top left and corner.  I have used an elcelctic mis of flowers from Leanne and some from my stash along with some chipboard and antique bronze metal filigree leaves.
I have added a few of the fabulous charms from this month's kit along with a strip of the pink lace.  This really accented the brown and cream so well....prettied it up nicely and added that touch of shabbyness to it

I have added one of the chipboard words that was also in this month's kit.  I have also added some charms, keys, flowers and a few Kraft feathers that were also included in my kit

Well everyone that is my project share for this week.  I thoroughly enjoyed creating this collage frame and the quote from this month's challenge fitted in perfectly.

Artist Trading Blocks

Hi all, welcome to this weeks Mad About Scrappin project share.  Now I might be a little late jumping on to the band wagon where these little cuties are concerned, but OMG guys have you seen these? Artist Trading Blocks!! I am hooked!! I want to make more!!  They are going to make awesome gift giving ideas and christmas is now only a few months away??  No harm in getting in early hey?

I have just used the basic cube as my foundation.  I created three different sizes 2 inches, 2.5 inches and the base block is three inches.  There are templates for these cubes all over the net so I won't bore you with the "how-to" details.  I have upcycled some cereal boxes to make mine.  I was really after a strong sturdy block.  I then inked them with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain and covered them with Papermania's Madame Payraud collection....LOVE these papers!!

So here are my glamour shots.  I haven't added photo mats and  frames yet.  I am enjoying it just the way that it is, but there is lots of space for small family pics and of course the Monthly Challenge quote.

Have you attempted the Mad About Scrappin challenge for this month? If you have, don't forget to link your project  here on the Mad About Scrappin blog.

Mixed Media Layout

Hello everyone...you can all breathe easy I have no tutorials for you all this week, just my first ever attempt at doing a Mixed Media layout.  This month our challenge over on the blog is ......

Here is my take on the challenge...

and here are a few process photos....I made such a lovely mess of me and my craft room!!! I have been gathering quite a few mixed media supplies for some time, but have never really put them to use 'til now.  I have also become an avid watcher of all the mixed media vids over on youtube.  They make it look so easy!!

I began with a piece of 12x12 patterened paper from Fab Scraps .... it looked something like this

Organic Lace
After some spraying, painting with gesso and then some more spraying it looked something like this.
I have to admit at this point I was ready to toss it in the bin.  It had turned out all the "wrong" colour and was much to dark!! So I started to treat it as an experiment just to see what would happen.  So I grabbed my water colour pencils and added some outlining.

I then smudged these outlines with my water brush

I also added a little orange into the mix.
I played around with my photo and background mats to see where to position them.

Using one of my home made screens or stencils I added
texture paste over some stamping I had done with Stazon Jet Black.
and some Lindys Stamp Gang sprays.  I also splattered them onto the page as well.

I then toyed around with some flowers from the shop.  I added some twine that I had also sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray in Ramblin Rose

I have used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the saying.

Some close ups of these gorgeous blooms I got on one of the Facebook sales.
Below is my finished layout.  I thoroughly enjoyed the process.  I learnt a lot.  I really need to do more of this and learn to just go with the flow!!
I have to admit that I am finally liking how this layout evolved.  Not at all like what I pictured in my minds eye!!

Don't forget to look us up on facebook.
