Creative Inspiration - Week 1 2015

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!

Wow !!!

I cannot believe that a new year has now started.

I hope that you all had an amazing New Years Eve.

So.. I know for my family this year will bring about a lot of new beginnings and changes. I am hoping that this year will be full of much happiness and that we will be able to move forward stronger than ever.

Anyway... I have been playing again with this kit to create a layout for you this week.

This was the last of  three layouts I have created using photos from a family that goes to my two daughters Calisthenics group. I loved this photo when I saw it and knew that I just had to scrap it. Seeings as it is the start of a new year too and my focus is about my family happiness I felt that scrapping this was appropriate. I have not seen such a family so happy together.

So here it is.

I have used a chocolate coloured card stock to matt some baseboard that I have added textured pasted vines and glimmer mist to. But before I did I distressed the edges and played around with some ink.
I have also added a few little peek a boo lace bits to add some texture to the page.
I have also added a few little peek a boo lace bits and some mixed sequins randomly to add some texture to the page. I love the look of adding sequins as they add a bit of sparkle without being too over the top. Plus they are super fun to play with too.

I have used a mixture of flowers from my stash. and clustered them together on the left side of the photo on a matching tag from the set and a paper doily. I  then used some bakers twine in the tag and have looped and draped it across the page then added some more sequins.

I also added in the last few die cut frames in the stash. I am quite sad that I have finished them all and MUST get some more. They have been so much fun to play with and add that little bit extra to a layout super easily. I have then finished off the layout by just using some of the matching stickers to create a title for the layout.

Well.. that's the first of many scrap booking posts I hope to share with you all this year.

I am looking forward to challenging myself and getting out and about to scrap more too.

Till next week.

Enjoy holidays.

Creative Inspiration - Week 52

Hello.

I hope that everyone is having a super Christmas.

Super busy here with kids going back and forth to visit and family over that I am really glad I got organised with all my scrap work in advance.

Anyways... I have played around with some more of this kit to create a layout for you.

I felt very honoured to be able to create this layout using another photo from the family at my daughters Calisthenics. This layout I have created used a photo of the father and new born son of the family. I felt very humbled to be able to create this layout.
Because this was to be a more masculine layout I have played around with a piece of base board as the base for this layout. I then used some texture paste and a wall stencil to create the base. Then it was a matter of layering gesso and three different glimmer mists till I was happy.

I have also played around with a pile of old number stickers that I have had laying around in my stash for ages. I have coloured them all black to make them uniform in that sense and adhered them randomly.

Once the photo was adhered onto some of the matching tags and patterned paper I then played around with a mix of wood veneer, some kraft photo corners and matching word stickers from the pack.

Finally I finished the whole layout off with a few cork stars and bordered the whole layout with some washi tape. I love the colours on this layout as it helps to focus on the subjects in the photos.

Well better get back to celebrating Xmas.

Merry Christmas all.

Challenging Inspiration

Hello Everyone,

Michelle here.
Isn't this sketch designed by Mad About Scrappin's Creative Team Member, Amy Prior amazing !!
I absolutely loved playing along with this sketch.

Once again  I have used this kit from Echo Park to create my take on this months sketch at
Mad About Scrappin.

So here's my take on the sketch.

I have been cleaning out my scrap stash again and found some papers that I have had laying around for ages. The background paper I thought would be PERFECT for the base of this layout. It also matched perfectly with the Echo Park kit too without taking over completely. I also decided to do my take on the sketch and only have one photo. However I did use a 3'x4' journal card and some scrap to create the two other "photos" from the sketch. That way I felt like I was making it my own.

No I was really inspired and my scrapping mojo was flowing when creating this layout. I played around with some texture paste and a stencil I had gotten from a Mad About Scrapping sale to add some texture to the base of my layout.  I then added layers of patterned paper, washi tape and a large paper doily till I was happy with all the layers.

To mix things up a little and because I really didn't have a lot that I wanted to journal on this layout I have instead created an embellishment cluster there instead. By making my own pennant flags and mixing it up with some matching bakers twine I was able to tie it all in together.

Why not give this month's Mad About Scrappin's challenge a go.

Creative Inspiration - Week 10

Hello everyone.

This week has been a fun filled week here for me. I haven't been studying or scrapping much. But managing to have some "me" time. Been quite refreshing and much needed.

However I have managed to this weeks creative inspiration done for Mad About Scrappin using some more of this photo freedom kit.

So here what I have created this week.
I had a real blast creating this layout too. I made so much mess on my desk and  my hands playing around with texture paste and glimmer mist.It seems like ages since I have played around with texture paste. I forgot how much fun it was to play with.

I used a chipboard alpha negative that I have had laying around in my stash as my masking template with the texture paste. I used a piece of chipboard from an old art sketch book as my base for my layout. I cut it to size and then added the texture paste where I wanted it. Once the texture paste was almost dry, I then started to layer different coloured glimmer mists to add some colour to match the journal cards I was using.
To finish off the base I then randomly stamped and inked the edges of the card stock.

I carried through the masculine feel to this layout using washi tape and garden twine to embellish. I also popped in an ornate frame I had glimmer misted to match. I love this photo freedom kit too for the stickers that come included. They make it easy to add a few little accents to the embellishment cluster as desired.

Once again this photo freedom kit has taken me in a different direction. Definitely not washed out of pastel but a very strong masculine colour scheme.

Why not mix it up with the papers you are using at the moment.

Till next week.
