Creative Inspiration - Week 47

Hello.. Hello.. Hello !!!

Back this week with a fun pocket page that I have created using this kit of behalf of
Mad About Scrappin

This week I have created a pocket page for a change. I felt a little like mixing it up and found some super fun photos to use for this from our trip to Victor Harbor in the last school holidays.

So here it is....
Have played around with the more muted colours in this paper range to create this layout. I must say that I am quite enjoying playing around with pocket pages. I love that you are able to use each pocket to tell a story for itself or use the pocket to create an overall effect as a 12'x12' layout.

I have used the plainer paper as the base for three of the pockets and have added some digital stamps to them to mix it up a little. I have then lightly and randomly stamped using my hand as the stamp block using a graph stamp. I then layered some doilies, old alphas stickers that I have coloured using a permanent marker and some die cut frames.

I even added a little bicycle journal card to this pocket and then finished it off by adding some dew drops from my own stash. They are fun to play with and as they are clear show through the colours below them.

For my title I have mixed it up a little and used a combination of bright bold alphas stickers for the main part of the title and then 3D mounted some white alpha stickers for the remaining title. On the pockets with the photos I have kept it simple with the matching paper matt which I have stamped with the graph stamp, added some bold washi to match and finished them off with a chipboard wood arrow. Super fun and easy.

Well.. off to get some house chores done.... unfortunately I cant scrap this weekend as I will be busy with kids friend's parties and kids in the local Christmas pageant. However will be lots of perfect photo opportunities this weekend for future scrapping.

Enjoy your weekend.

Creative Inspiration - Week 32

 Hello all.

Back again this week to share with you what I have been up to on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

I am finally at the end of this amazing kit by Simple Stories - Under the Stars.

I think I have used this kit for so many more layouts that what the kit is actually themed for.

Here's this weeks layout I have created.
This week I have create a pocket page. I like to challenge myself sometimes...
who am I kidding..
ALWAYS..
Well this week was no exception. I wanted to create a 12x12 layout using a pocket page as the basis. This did prove a little challenging as I was limited with how I could place things.

To tie it all together and make it all uniform I split the layout in half. I then used the same paper for all the pockets on the right and the same on the left. However to tie it all together I have used some book pages and randomly adhered them to add a bit to the background.

I used one of the matching journal cards for my title. I added a bit of washi tape that matched to add a bit to the journal spot. Then created my title using larger alphas and then the matching alpha stickers from the paper range.

I am still in love with adding a small paper bag to my page. This layout I have used a see through paper bag as the patterned tag shows through which adds to the embellishment cluster. Then added some washi tape and some garden twine to the tag for texture. I added a matching word sticker from the set using some 3D foam tape. Then finished it off with some wood grain enamel dots.

I added a bit of ink spots to the layout to mix it up a little.

Had quite a bit of fun making a bit of a mess with this layout.

Certainly challenged myself with the pocket page this week.

Till next week.

Creative Inspiration - Week 27

Hello all.

I almost forgot to get this post sorted out for today....

I have been busily sorting out school holiday plans here and was curled up in bed when I remember that i needed to share with you all this weeks Creative Inspiration on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

So this week I have played around with the last of this Echo Park Photo Freedom kit that I have used over the last month.

Now.. I managed to get some scrap time in through this week and have created a pocket page layout. I must say that when I find I am time poor that pocket pages are just so easy to create.
So here's this weeks inspiration.
I have been trying for what seems like forever to get a nice photo of all the kids together. It seems like a painful task sometimes I must say. You can never get them all looking at the camera. Never get them all smiling. Or if you do you tend to get that cheese cake smile. Well.... this time I managed to capture all those and more in this impromptu photo shoot one morning before school. When I looked through all the photos I found that several of them were perfect for this layout I wanted to create documenting our crazy life.
I have loved mixing up the pocket pages a bit and using some of the 4'x6' pockets to tell the story. I have layered 3'x4' journal cards onto 4'x6' journal cards to create the base for the decorated pockets. I have then used a mixture of embellishments I grabbed from a Mad About Scrappin sale to finish off the pockets.

I love these little journal cards that Leanne had in store for a sale. I wised I had more of them as they were so cute and worked so well for this layout. I have brightened up this pocket with these lime green spotty buttons too.

I used one of the pocket to create the title for my layout. I love the little paper bags that were on sale recently at Mad About Scrappin. They are great for photo pockets as they are the perfect size and add that perfect spot for some hidden journalling too.

Have you payed around with some odds and ends you might have grabbed from a Mad About Scrappin sale lately ??

Have you had a chance to scrap u a storm ?

Why not get creative this weekend.

Till next week.

Creative Inspiration - Week 26

Welcome to another week of sharing on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

This week I will be sharing with you another creation using this Photo Freedom kit by Echo Park.

Now this week I decided to create a layout using photos that aren't really perfect photos and have so many different colours in them that they may have normally not been the best to use as a feature on a layout. However I still believe that the tell a story. They capture a moment in time that is priceless and needs to be recorded no matter what they look like. So I cleaned the photos up and printed them in black and white to play with them.

So here what I have created this week.
I have fun playing around with bits and pieces from this kit this week. I have teamed up this paper range with a piece of dotty kraft card stock to add a little texture to the layout.

I decided to add a stitched border to this layout. I felt it was just "missing" something. Oh and I must say... I LOVE the little paper graph bags from Mad About Scrappin !!!! so much so that after getting some to play with this month I purchased every colour and style they have in store. They are so cute AND the prefect size for photo pocket pages. The make create ways to add some hidden journalling or add some memorabilia you want to add to your page. Best of all they add that little bit extra to your page! I have teamed mine up with some twine, and a few matching stickers from the kit to create this page.

I have also love playing around with the 3'x4' journal cards in this kit this time around too. I created the title for this page on one of the 3'x4' journal cards using a wooden word as the main part of the title and then used some kaiser craft mini alphas to finish it off.

To finish off the last bit of this page I threw on a few Studio Calico chevrons and arrow in cork board. They add to the fun feel of this layout.

Have you checked out the latest products in the Mad About Scrappin store lately ??

Till next week.

Creative Inspiration - Week 25

Hello all.

Back this week with a layout I have created using this photo freedom kit by Echo Park.

I must admit that since I have started to play around with these Photo Freedom kits on behalf of Mad About Scrappin I have fallen in love. I really enjoy the flexibility of these kits. I love the fact that you have the choice as to how you create with these kits. I do wish that I had discovered them earlier.

So here's this weeks layout I have created.

I decided this week to select one of the colour schemes from the kit to play around with. I them chose the 4'x6' portrait layout photo pages and the 4'x6' journal cards in the colour scheme I had chosen. I wanted to make the journal cards the feature of this layout so printed my photos off as black and white and then mounted them onto some graph journal cards in my stash. I have added a little washi tape and some word stickers to finish them off.

Now I liked the colours of the journal cards however I really wanted to tie the different patterned journal cards together to give them a uniformed look. To do this I played around with Photo shop Elements and some photo brushes on a blank 4'x6' template I have. I then printed the journal cards with matching brushes in black. By printing on this colour I have found that the black really pops.

To add a little bit of embellishment I have glimmer misted some die cut frames from Mad about Scrappin to give them a worn metal look. Little hard to see it them have a little shimmer to them too. I then layered them on the journal card with a paper doily and some butterfly die cuts I have had laying around in my stash for ages. I loved adding the final touch of random pearlized sequins in various sizes.

For my title card I have used some Studio Calico alpha stickers as the main title and then some smaller Kaiser craft alphas to finish off the quote. I felt the quote finished off the layout nicely.

I love the feel and look of the end layout. It has a little bit of dimensions without being too dimensional.

Most of all I loved printing the journal cards to suit my need. I can see myself doing that again. I feel that it has helped make the journal cards more usable to my needs. Plus it created a completely different feel to the layout by using more feminine brushes.

Have you alter something to suit your needs?

Why not give it a try.

Till next week.

Creative Inspiration - Week 23

Well.. so starts another month.

With this month brings a new kit to play around with on behalf of Mad About Scrappin.

This month Leanne from Mad About Scrappin has sent me this fun Photo Freedom kit to play with from Echo Park.

When I received the kit I was excited to see it in real life. It is such a fun paper range. I can see that this month I am going to have so much fun with it.

So.. here's the first of many layouts for you from this kit today.
I wasn't quite sure what to do with my first layout. I was going to do my first layout as a pocket page however I was finding that my scrapping mojo had disappeared this week. Too much of a busy week with study and spring cleaning leaving me feeling rather worn out. I have to admit too that this layout took me about 3 hours to do which is rather unusual for me. I just couldn't get things happening to start with and found myself pushing pieces around the page for what seemed like forever till it finally came together.

By taking a different tack to this layout and creating little bits and pieces about the page I found it finally starting to work for me. I think perhaps I found it a bit too much working with so many different patterns this week. However by using the black and white to tie it all together it finally seemed to fall into place.

I love these little chevron bags too. I have used one as a base for a tag for my title. It has added a bit of texture to my page I think. I also like to create a title using a mixture of alphas and stickers. It create a bit of a feature of the title.

To finish this page off I played around with a mixture of embellishments. I love the buttons I go from the last Mad About Scrappin sale. They are nice and bold in colour and have added that little bit of pop to the layout. I added some Studio Calico cork shapes and Evalicious puffy stickers

I am quite happy with how this layout has turned out.

It did take a bit to come together but I am glad that I kept at it.

Have you ever struggled with getting a layout to work ?

Till next week.

Get creative.

Creative Inspiration - Week 11

 Hello once again.

So rolls on another week of the year.

Yet again I have been busy creating with the last little bits of this Photo Freedom kit
from Mad About Scrappin.

Here's what I have to share this week to inspire you.

The kit really is at its tail end at the moment. I still have a few odds and ends I will use up for cards and what not however I did manage to scrape together enough to be able to create my last layout from this kit. I have do this with a little help from tow matching pieces of card stock I had in my stash.

Now its a bit hard to see but the lighter card stock is actually a really pale grey blue. I felt it toned in perfectly with the patterned papers without being too over powering. I wanted this layout to not be quiet as dark as the last few I have created. However I still felt the card stock was a little too pale on its own so I have randomly stamped the card stock using dove grey staz on and inked the edges with two different ink colours to tie it all together. I then used some Mr Huey black mist to add some ink blotches which I blotted with a paper towel so they weren't as dark. I then trimmed and matted in onto a mid toned grey card stock. I feel it has create a subtle looking base for my layout.

To add a little bit of details I have added some hand stitched circles to the base of the layout. I also liked the idea of using up some old number stickers in my stash. So I have coloured them in using a permanent marker and adhered them in a staggered fashion. It helps to add a little bit of definition to the layout without taking over because they are darker. To finish it off I have added some inked ticket stubs and one of the matching stickers using 3D foam squares.

To finish the layout off I have added a little washi tape over lapping another sticker from the Photo Freedom kit, another 3'x4' journal card and the matching arrow sticker mounted with 3D foam tape. I have used the word from the journal card as part of my title finishing off the title with a die cut word. Super simple and so much fun to create.

So refreshing to be able to use all the little bits and pieces up from the kit.

Till next week where I share some new products with you.

Creative Inspiration - Week 10

Hello everyone.

This week has been a fun filled week here for me. I haven't been studying or scrapping much. But managing to have some "me" time. Been quite refreshing and much needed.

However I have managed to this weeks creative inspiration done for Mad About Scrappin using some more of this photo freedom kit.

So here what I have created this week.
I had a real blast creating this layout too. I made so much mess on my desk and  my hands playing around with texture paste and glimmer mist.It seems like ages since I have played around with texture paste. I forgot how much fun it was to play with.

I used a chipboard alpha negative that I have had laying around in my stash as my masking template with the texture paste. I used a piece of chipboard from an old art sketch book as my base for my layout. I cut it to size and then added the texture paste where I wanted it. Once the texture paste was almost dry, I then started to layer different coloured glimmer mists to add some colour to match the journal cards I was using.
To finish off the base I then randomly stamped and inked the edges of the card stock.

I carried through the masculine feel to this layout using washi tape and garden twine to embellish. I also popped in an ornate frame I had glimmer misted to match. I love this photo freedom kit too for the stickers that come included. They make it easy to add a few little accents to the embellishment cluster as desired.

Once again this photo freedom kit has taken me in a different direction. Definitely not washed out of pastel but a very strong masculine colour scheme.

Why not mix it up with the papers you are using at the moment.

Till next week.
