Stick Pin Holder

I love to go Op-Shopping or as some may say Thrift Shopping and I'm always on the look out for small boxes that I can alter and re-purpose as gifts. On one of my little trips I found a couple of old necklace boxes in perfect condition and this is what I've done to one of them.

Back
The box was perfect as a Stick Pin Holder, the only marking on the box was on the back so I just covered it with a notepaper where I can write my details.

Inside

Using the gorgeous Kaisercraft 'Porcelain Rose' Collection papers I went about fussy cutting some of the flower patterns out to place inside along both bottom edges, this would hide the foam where the pins are placed. I edged it with some gold 'stickles' and pearl bead trim. I placed some lovely lace above each section and added more of the pearl bead trim.

Front
On the front of the case I used a large bird image from one of the papers, a gorgeous variety of flowers from the store, along the bottom I used a dainty lace trim and the same pearl bead trim, I also made a couple of tiny stick pins for decoration in the upper left corner where I rolled the paper back, added a lily flower and tucked a little lace behind. On the right hand side I used some of the music paper and rolled like a vase placing some bead spray inside which I purchased from a Flog It Friday event on the Mad About Scrappin Facebook Page.

I hope you like what I made and thank you for taking the time to visit :)

Lou's May Challenge

My Little slice of Honey...

Hi all
Lou here to showcase my page created with the elements from this months Facebook challenge.

This month, required me to put my thinking cap on... Wings, colour and a B&W photo and use of a template or stencil.  But all of this was put at ease when I remembered that I had this lovely piece of paper from My Minds Eye, which Mad about Scrappin has available Here

I firstly created a masked circle toward the right hand side of the page with Antique Linen and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks, then I added further template work with the Random Hexagon 6 x 6 template from WOW with Raspberry Pie Fluid Chalk Ink from Prima, which I purchased a Flog it Friday, this matched perfectly with the paper colours. The great thing about this paper is that it features some gorgeous little bumble bees and took care of my wings element straight away.

I added some extra height by fussy cutting part of the rose from the coordinating paper  and mounting with foam tape. I then die cut some matching hexagons from the loveliness mix of papers of this range.

I have had these Alphas for such a long time and never used them, but I got them from Mad about Scrappin a couple of years ago and they were just perfect for the title 'Big Prep Girl' I still can not believe that my baby is at school.

I lastly used my B&W photo on the handcrafted tag as a design element in the far bottom right hand    corner, which drew your eye from top left to bottom right hand corner which makes the page flow.
Here is the page in its full glory :)

Chellenging Fun !

I must say that each and every month I am having so much fun playing around with the challenges that Leanne has set for us to play with at Mad About Scrappin. They really have been getting me to think outside the box and this month's challenge is no exception.

This months Mad About Scrappin challenge is up as another month rolls over.

So without any further ado here is the challenge.
Here's my take on the challenge.

Once again I had a chance to recycle and make a HUGE mess.
I hate to throw any bit of a scrap pad out. So when I found the back of a patterned paper pad that I hadn't used I got messy with lots of paint and glimmer mist to create the base of my layout.
Then it was a case of using up some scraps of patterned paper, washi tape, texture paste and some ink to add some dimension to my layout... plus I think I was enjoying making a HUGE mess.

Now... I did struggle at first trying to work out how I was going to add a colour photo AND a black and white photo to this layout. However with a little thinking outside the box and some creative fun with Photo shop I was able to work this out. I edited the photo twice. Once to clean it up and selective colour to just highlight the image of my daughter and secondly to edited the photo again to make it completely black and white. Then I cropped the colour image and distressed both photos. Lastly the colour one has been matted onto the black and white photo using 3D foam tape. And I must say I love this idea. Create dimension and something just a little different.

So.. why not play around with this challenge this month and see what you can come up with.

May Challenge

Hey everyone!  It's Jo.  Can you believe a new month has come around again?  I am finding it hard to believe that we are almost half way through another year!

So a new month means a new challenge.  And I'm always up for a challenge :)

Here are the details

Photo: May Challenge - Colour and Black and white photo, Stencil/Template and wings are to be used on your layout/card or OTP project!
I decided to scrap one of my boys for a change.  I struggle with boy layouts but really enjoyed this challenge.

This was my youngest boys first time at a concert.  We had a blast!

I have used some texture paste and also traced around the template to get the spots.  I then found an image on the net of a guitar with wings and printed it onto some kraft cardstock and cut it out with my circle spellbinders to create a bit of a unique embellishment.

Hope I have inspired you all to have a go at this months challenge.  Have a go!  We love to see your wonderful creations.

Thanks for letting me share :)

Hugs

Jo
