A Pinterest inspired project......

Are you guys just as addicted to pinterest as what I am?  I seem to spend an awful lot of time over there procrastinating and drooling over some of the gorgeous projects that I find .... like this one.
I was really hoping that I would find a tutorial of sorts attached to it, but no.  So I set about working out how I could do it or make one from these supplies...
So I have used 3 paper mache round boxes and I recycled some cereal box chipboard. Which I sanded lightly to take the glossy shine off.

Once that was done I glued some tyvek to my two pieces of cereal box to create a hinge.

I then temporarily stuck my boxes in place to see how it was all going to go and if it would actually work!!
I also temporarily attached a lid with some masking tape, so that I could work out how I wanted that close over the other half of my "box"

Once I had marked everything and sorted out all of my dimensions and the placement of the "draws".  I began liberally coating everything in gesso.

 Even the paper mache boxes.
I then began cutting my strips and punching decorative borders for the outside.I have used more of those gorgeous papers from Graphic 45's Botanical Tea collection!

and covered the sides of the paper mache boxes..
I cut some strips to go in between the draws or boxes and also to line the inside of the boxes.

Once I had all the strips and boxes glued into place I then began to work on the outside.
and the lid.

and here is the finished box ....
I have decorated the lid with some pearl bead trimcherry blossoms and some cutouts from the paper pad.

I have used some soft pink seam binding for my closure.

Creative Inspiration - Week 13

Hello again.

Back this week with a quick share. Been busy playing catch up after visitors we have had here and other family things that I have had little time to scrap much. Have wanted to play around but time hasn't been my friend.

So I managed to get a chance late this week to work on next month's challenge (which I can't wait to share!) AND a card for Miss K's birthday which is just around the corner too. Once again I have been playing with this Echo Park Kit available at Mad About Scrappin.

So here the fun card I created for miss K.
I do normally scrap cards in 4'x4' size however as this card doesn't need to be posted I tend to go a little bigger. This card I have used a piece of textured matching blue card stock I have cut to end up at 5'x5 in size.
I have played around with some ink with this card too with inking the edges of the paper, card and then lightly stamping some contrast pink paper I have added.

For the greeting itself I have used one of the 3'x4' journal cards in the kit. I have used some 3D foam to mount it to add some dimension and wrapped it with some twine for added effect. By doing this I have turned the cupcake on the journal card into the embellishment for the card. I finish off the card I have added a pennant flag I have made from a scrap of the paper, added some dew drops to the cupcake and added the number to the pennant flag.

Really is a simple card but with the nice bright colours, I think I like it being simple.

Have you created some cards lately ?

Why not add to your stash.

Till next week.

Get inspired.

Kaisercraft Hello Sunshine Product Spotlight with Amy Prior

Hi everyone!!! Amy Prior back again today to share my Product Spotlight for this month and I have chosen to showcase the amazing Kaisercraft Hello Sunshine Collection available from Mad About Scrappin here

I was instantly drawn to this collection  because of the amazing bright colours and fun patterns but was quickly turned off at the sight of very child like imagery. I mean I am scrapbooking my children but I thought it just wasn't my style but I just kept coming back to it loving the cute little characters more and more.

So in an attempt to bring out my style of this collection, I have added lots of black for high contrast and boy does it look different with a bit of distressing!

To start off this layout, I have added some random masking to a white piece of cardstock using texture paste. I have then sprinkled some dribbles and droplets of a few Dylusions Ink Sprays around the edges. I have then added some doodling around some of my texture paste patterns and added some black inking around the entire edge of my page.

The next step was to decorate my chipboard hexagons and to do this, I have covered them in various papers from the Kaisercraft Hello Sunshine range and then inked over the top directly with my Archival Ink Pad. The fabulous texture created from the Archival Ink pad being used directly onto the paper is fabulous! I have then added some more Chipboard elements that were coated with embossing powder and then inked also. Don't they look like little bullseyes to go with the picture of Mia dressed up as a Cowgirl?

I knew that I really wanted to use some of the cute caricature images so I have fussy cut out the branch of owls from Hello Sunshine Grin Patterned Paper and I have inked the edges to help it work in with the grunged bright feel of the page. I wanted my little owls to be sitting on a branch so I have added some Prima Marketing Flower Branches strategicall placed over the owls and then underneath my embossed chipboard title.

The final stages of the layout included layering tonnes of gorgeous bright papers from the Kaisercraft Hello Sunshine Collection (which were all distressed on the edges using Black Archival Ink), plus I have added some of the 12x12 Sticker sheet stickers and added some more doodling around them.

Amongst my layer of papers is also one of the awesome Yellow Chevron Bags from Mad About Scrappin which hides a journalling tag behind the photo.

Products available from Mad About Scrappin Include...

Well that is all I have to share from the Hello Sunshine Collection but here is another layout with a fabulous Navy Chevron Bag has been used to hide a huge journalling tag behind my photo...

Until next time, happy scrapping!

March Sketch- Photo with Dad

Hi, I am here to show you today my take on the March Sketch. I tell you what I am LOVING the sketches!!! So easy to create with and make it to your style.

This is my daughter and her Dad on her first day at Kindy (3yrs ago, where is the time going???) First days of school is one of the few photos we get with the kids.

I have create my own background using mist and stencils and the layered the paper like the sketch. I have used Frames and Flowers for the embellishments.

With a punch, i punched a bit here and there from the border and then added some more embellishments on the right hand side.

Instead of having a title with the same alpha stickers, i wrote some for something different.
Here is the March Sketch:
Don't forget to load your take to be in the draw to win 2 awesome prizes.
Thanks for looking
Belinda :)

An Altered CD

This week my project is a little different....this week I have altered an old cd.  I don't know about you, but I seem to have a fair few of these lying around.  I was inspired by my scrappy bestie Tash...she challenged us to create something pretty for our fridge!! and here is what I came up with!!
.... A gorgeous fridge magnet to hold all those important bills - errr I mean documents to the fridge!!

I have started with an old CD and Graphic 45's Botannical Tea 8x8 paper pad.
Using the CD as my template I traced out several circles on some of the different prints from the paper pad.

Including the shiny glossy striped back cover of the pad!!
To smooth out and round off the edges more evenly, I have used a finger nail file.
I then gathered up a heap of lovely embellishments and paper flowers from the Mad About Scrappin Store.

 Including these gorgeous Ornate frames.....

which I then cut roughly in half
I then began the layering and gluing in place process with lace, paper doilies and a small cut from the paper pad.  Whilst I was waiting for my wet glue to dry, I did some fussy cutting to embellish with.

I also added some fine white lace to the back of the CD.
I then began to glue all of my elements into place

I have added a metal key, which I had painted with some white gesso to blend it in more.  I love how you get a shabby effect when doing this technique!
Here it is all finished and just drying out on my fridge!! I have added a small plastic chandelier dangle.
I have used a lovely Elise Satin bloom in pink and some of the new pastel range of Forget Me Nots
Here are some of the pieces I fussy cut from the papers.  I have added some Glossy Accents to the butterflies to make them more durable and give them more dimension.
I have left the Words Or Whatever mini  "Dream" chipboard piece raw as it blended so well with the brown under layer.
Oh and I almost forgot to show you the back.  I have layered it with some of the striped paper from the back cover and a small layer from the paper pad. Last, but not least I have hot glued .a large magnet into the centre.

Have you guys been to the Mad About Scrappin Store yet?  Please pop on over and check out the newest papers that arrived late last week!!  Thanks for stopping by.....
