Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 12

Hello all... back again with a quick share of a layout I have created for you on behalf of

Have kept it simple this week as I have been scrapping my little fingers off here for the Royal Adelaide Show. Every year I seem to challenge myself more and more with my entries.. so now I am feeling very scrapped out.

So here is what I managed to create for you this week.

I have loved playing around with the Echo Park - "Love Story" paper range. I have always been a huge fan of mixing red with pink as had always thought that they just didn't go.. but some how they just seem to work.

By mixing it up with my embellishments I have been able to create plenty of texture with a mix of hand cut flowers and paper flowers I have had in my stash. I love being able to layer is all.

By adding in just a touch of black has also add a different element to the page. Seems to make the page not quite as girlie. Though have to admit did love adding a bit of bling with my title to the page.

Have you played around with colours that just don't seem to go lately ?

Have you checked out the Mad About Scrappin Store lately ?

Get Scrapping and check it all out.

Belindas post

Photobucket
Hi, I am back to show you what I came up using the fab Pink Paislee Cottage Farm range. I just loved playing with these beautiful papers. With 3 girls I had plenty of photos to choose from.
First up is a layout I did of my middle daughter all dressed up to go and met Santa at a Christmas Party
For some reason I thought it would be 'grand' to hand stitch around each of the paper strips. Loved the effect but it did take a bit of time. Methinks I need to learn to use the sewing marchine better
This flower bunch from Manor Collection is just devine!!! All I added was a bit of pearl trim and a resin butterfly (all from MAS store) You can also see some twine. Its from a tag that is hidden that has the extra details about the photo. The doily is also from the shop. The words that you can see say's 'you just look so'
I have used Seam Binding for the bow. After I glued the bit across the photo I tied the bow and then glued it on top. Then I added the Pearl Trim. The flowers above the title are all from MAS
The next layout is of me and my 2 girls. I have layed lots of paper:
I just LOVE the flower range that MAS has. Plus who does not love a bit of bling???
And some more flowers and heart:
And a quick look at the title. For some reason it does not look straight but it is. I have used a stencil from my stash and ink to get the look under the title:
Such a difference in colours from the 2 layouts but all came from the same range!!!
Head HERE for the Pink Paislee Cottage Farm range in the shop,  HERE for the Seam Binding, for the Pearl Trim go HERE, Manor Creations Vines go HERE, all other flowers go HERE and if you are looking for all the new stuff that comes in head HERE

Here is a reminder of what the challenge is:

And my take is:
So my everyday moment is:
You can see some stamping under 'DADDY'
Some more words
More words again with a stamp from my stash of the 3 owls
And whats a layout without flowers!!! And MAS has a awesome range. The paper range I used is Beautiful Life by Echo park which I got here. All the tags/stickers are part of that range too (bar the yellow letters in the title)
I am loving the entries so far into the challenge and I hope this inspires you to enter today
Cheers

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 11

 Hello again.

Back this week to share with you another layout I have created especially for Mad About Scrappin.

This week I have played around with lots of stamps I have in my stash and also a piece of paper napkin to mix it up a little.

I have been loving playing with the "Well Played" paper range from Carte Bella. It is so versatile and love the colours.

So here's the full layout
By mixing it up with some of the stamps in my stash I have been able to add that little bit extra to the base paper I have used. Once again I have used a piece of patterned paper as the base of my layout. However to give the paper a bit of a differently look I have used some matching washi tape to create an uneven border to start with and then added some stamped images randomly where desired. I also lightly sanded the red journal card then double stamped it to tone down the brightness a little to match the base.

Now I must say I was very lucky with this layout I just happened to have matching flowers to add to this layout that I had purchased from one of Mad About Scrappin's Flog It Friday sales.  By clustering them around my photo and grouping them with the journal tags I was able to add some extra colour.

My youngest daughter did think I was a little nuts when I was creating this layout however. To add a bit of height and texture to the page before I adhered anything I scrunched up a white paper napkin (just 1 ply) and adhered directly to the layout base. I then adhered everything else of top. I also added an old bingo card in to the mix of embellishment clusters. I had lightly sanded it to tone done the brightness of it.

The last party of this layout was adding in some twine and a few of the matching "Well Played" Carte Bella stickers. they finished the layout off nicely. I didn't add a title to this layout as felt the journal card said it all. Sometimes that is all the layout needs.

Had a blast playing with this layout. Super easy and nice and bright.

Till next week share.

Happy Scrapping.

Shadow Box Tag

This week I have a lovely Shadow Box Tag to share with you. The shadow box is actually made from the lid of a small box measuring approximately 8" x 3" so it's big enough to work with yet small enough to complete quickly.

Firstly I lined the inside of the box with papers from the 'Fairybelle' collection by Prima, these papers lended themselves beautifully to the gorgeous colours in the embellishments I wanted to use. Around the inside edge I place a beautiful white lace trim and finished off with pale blue pearl beaded trim. I made my own small dressform out of paper mache and used two chess pieces to form a stand for her. The bodice was then covered in Aubergine lace with a little of the white lace around the bust. The skirt was made up of different laces, some trimmed to make then a little thinner and also some more pearl beaded trim was added for interest and texture, it was all cut on an angle so that the stand can still be seen.

Some gorgeous seam binding swathed around the hip area and brought up on one side into a lovely bow finished the skirt off nicely and a variety of small flowers was made into a bouquet to form a little side bustle. Lastly I added a bronze bead cap along with a pearl bead to a stick pin and glued it into the neck area using Helmars glue. A little hanger was formed from a piece of seam binding and lace twisted together and placed on the back.

I think it turned out very pretty and it's now on it's way to a lovely lady in Greece :)

Thank you for stopping by today

August Facebook Inspiration from Lou

Hello All, Lou here

I'm glad to be back with my page to inspire you with the new challenge from Mad about Scrappin's Facebook page.  The August Challenge criteria is

So we need to scrap an everyday moment, I scrapped a pair of photo's of my eldest daughter getting her hair done and how cheeky she was that day.
Next we need lots of journalling, I'm not a fan of my handwriting so I hid my story on a tag behind the body of the page.

Lastly, we need some stamping... I hoard stamps and this was a great excuse to use them on my page, you can see in this photo the printing and floral flourish, these have been stamped on this gorgeous paper, which is Carta Bella's range 'Hello Again'
Love
Love
Love

LOVE this paper!

Loving Gold at the moment and I have covered my embellishments with Gold Pearl paint, and added a mass of yellow/gold sequins.
For a finishing touch I sewed around the border of the page.

Here is my page in full...

The Best Wink! Wink! eva.

Hope this inspires you to create this weekend. Plenty of time left to get your entry in by the 25th of the month, just link it up to our Facebook page

Mad About Scrappin - Layout of the Week - Week 10

Welcome again to another week of sharing what I have been up for

This week I have mixed it up a little and decided it was time to scrap a photo of my son. I find that I take photos of all my children, but tend to scrap more photos of my girls. I enjoy scrapping boy layouts I just don't seem to do it often enough.

Now because I was making a boy layout I decided to mess up the card stock a little with some glimmer mist and mister huey sprays. I even let it blotch as I really like the effect of the ink that way. I also added a splash of white gesso paint  on top of the sprays in the centre to add a bit of texture.

I then decided to stick with a fairly basic colour scheme for this layout and used only the black and mustard coloured papers from the "Well Played" paper range by Carta Bella.

So here's the finished layout I had fun creating.

Now to mix it up I found some old C6 size yellow envelopes in my stash when I decluttered a few weeks ago. I really wanted to add it the base of this layout but I found the yellow was a little too bold. So I inked up the edges, and lightly stamped it with a script stamp using an almost dried up staz on ink pad I had laying around. I then layered up my embellishments before popping on my photo.

Then finally I added some washi tape and some matching buttons to finish off the layout. They added some extra height to the layout. Super easy and quite an effective layout if I do say so myself.

Have you played around with a new paper range lately that you would normally use ?

Have you created a layout on a theme that you wouldn't scrap normally ?
